[solved] Failed to open; set experiment_path

edited March 2016 in OpenSesame

Hey all,

I am devising a flanker task. When I opened the latest version of the file, it comes up with an error, which can be seen here: http://imgur.com/PXiBXU6

I am wondering how I can address this in my opensesame file. It is the Golden Master of our experiment.

The H:/ drive is a university home drive, where I edited the opensesame file for a while. The file does not open even when put back in the H:/ drive.

Hoping you can help!!

Thanks,

Rhett

    Hi Rhett,

Thanks for reporting this. It's a bug (#403) that results from the final slash in the path.

To work around this, you can do the following:

    1. If your experiment has files in the pool, first open the .osexp with a program like 7zip, extract the script in it (script.opensesame), and open the script in a text editor.
    2. If your experiment doesn't have files in the pool, open the .osexp file directly in a text editor.
    3. In the text editor, remove the line that starts with set experiment_path and save the file.
    4. Now you can open the experiment again in OpenSesame.

For more information about the file format, also see:

This problem will occur again if you save the experiment in a location that ends with a slash. But now at least you know how to fix it, and I will release another maintenance release soon to fix it.

    Cheers!
