update: actually my workaround is no good. I do need the video to keep playing at the same time as I (on some trials) send a trigger.

Thanks for your help here @eduard . Here is the task with a video in the File pool (video was over 10MB so couldn't attach sorry). Unfortunately setting video duration to 0 doesn't work - I just get a black screen (video does not play). My interpr…

An abbreviated version of the task is here just in case this helps though obviously I assume it's not possible to test the trigger code without Oxysoft (but I know the inline scipt itself is fine given it works in the other block) https://forum.cogs…

Just to update, I've put this last question on a new thread given it was not exactly related to the original post.
-
Thanks again @eduard this is super helpful. I've economised my blocks by using a loop. I think it's running more reliably now. I think I might quit while I'm ahead and keep my separate inline scripts to send separate triggers from the keyboard (thou…

Thanks so much @eduard . 1. First on the sketchpad / keyboard response timing. I think you meant to change the sketchpad duration to 0, and then add the variable [stim_duration] for the Timeout value? This seems to work nicely! Thanks so much. I'm a…

ah, many thanks for the reply @eduard. Ok, not sure best way to show the experimental setup. Happy to share the actual experiment if that's easier. But here's a screenshot (I'm an OS newbie so hopefully my design is not too clunky!): https://forum.…

Hi, I'm just updating this discussion, just in case there are some other solutions I'm not aware of. I've been able to use Expyriment as the backend, and then setting the call custom Python code to "on keypress", and my movies play fine (u…

ok great, point 3 helped a lot as I had no idea this step was needed. I was actually already working on step 2 but was stuck, but have worked it out. :)

many thanks for the reply @eduard I'm afraid i'm a novice with python. I can't tell which of those to download (source distribution, or one of the two Built Distribution options?). I went a head and downloaded Built Distribution for py3. It appears…

Update: i realised I was missing a 'plugins' folder in that directory. I added the media_player_mpy folder to the newly created plugins folder. And now I have the media player module! However... When I add the module to an experiment I get an error …

oops I just realised I had the scrip in 'run' instead of 'prepare' tab. Works now :)

Hello, I'm posting on this thread because I noticed someone earlier had the same error as me (but they resolved it before a solution was posted here). I want a stimulus duration to vary randomly across trials. I placed an inline script inside the tr…

Hi @Daniel Because of other commitments this project has been on hold, but I'm now looking to see if i can get my videos to play. Is it possible to take a look some time soon? Many thanks.
-
update: i just tried a new video that has sound (previous videos had no audio). I still get the flash of a black square and then blank screen, but i can hear the video continuing to play. So it seems the video is playing but there's a problem with t…

Hi @cela thanks for the message. Yea when I change to "on keypress" I no longer get the error message and the task runs fine.. except that instead of playing the video it just flashes maybe 1 frame of the video box (it's all black) and the…

HI @Daniel, I've been a bit busy but just returning to this. I think you might've been very busy also :) I wonder if it's possible to get these videos working? Thanks!

Hi @Daniel, many thanks for having a look. You are correct that i also have some inline scripts in the task (to run some triggers), though not linked to the movie itself. I've attached my task - please let me know if I need to send anything else to …

@lvanderlinden Hi Lotje, many thanks for your reply. And thanks also for fixing this issue! I did have the inline script before my sketchpad, but I was not aware of the difference between Prepare and Run. Once I put in in Prepare that fixed it. Tha…
