[open] Pull random from a folder on computer...?

edited September 2014 in OpenSesame

Our experiment is going to go something like this...

Show participant 10 images (random, from a list of ~300)

  1. How do we pull from a folder on OpenSesame?
  2. How do we make sure that the images are random (i.e different for each participant?)

Test the participant for the memory of those 10 images by showing 50 images, 10 of which they already studied.

  1. How do we make sure that the 40 new images and the 10 studied images are shown in a random order for each new participant?

I'm sure there will be more questions, but this is what I'm stuck on right now.

    Hi,

I'm afraid that your question, as asked now, is not specific enough: What does it mean to 'pull from a folder'? Have you already implemented something, and, if so, what? Are you using Python scripting or not?

If you haven't already done so, I would first walk through a tutorial to get a basic understanding of OpenSesame:

This should allow you to implement your experiment at least partly. Then, if you get stuck, feel free to ask specific questions, including a description of what you want to do, what you have done so far, and why it doesn't work as expected.

    Good luck!

    Hi,

If you want, I use a script for an experiment requiring a similar type of randomization. When you'll have a draft of your experiment maybe that we could adapt my script.

    Best,

    Simon
