[solved] Backwards within a sequence

edited January 2014 in OpenSesame

Hi everybody!

In my experiment I want to present pictures in a specific order (not randomized). It is important that the participants can go backwards in the presentation sequence, i.e. see previous pictures again by pressing a specified key.

Generally, is this possible with opensesame?

Thanks in advance!
Best,
David

    Hi David,

The answer is a cautious "yes". Sequence items do not allow you to go back, but you can use inline code to mimic this behaviour. Some time ago, someone asked whether you can repeat trials if a response was incorrect. This question is somewhat similar to yours (although yours is a bit simpler to implement, actually), and you may want to take a look at the example experiment.

If you want, I could give you some more detailed tips, but I'd need to know more about the structure of the experiment that you have in mind.

    Cheers!
    Sebastiaan
