[open] Using movies as a variable
Hi guys.
First of, thank you so much for a comprehensible open source piece of software that really works!
I cannot get OpenSesame to randomise my movies.
I have created a variable called 'mo' and written the filenames for all 24 movies.
In the box 'Video file' I have then put [mo] (which is my variable name), but nothing happens. It just skips the movies.
Do any of you have suggestions how to solve this?
It's driving me insane, and I should run my experiment tomorrow :-O
Thank you.
Marc

I should say that I am using a Mac, so the VLC media player plugin is not an option.
Hi,
In principle, you're approach seems correct. Have you gotten videos to play before? If so, then there's probably a simple bug in your experiment, but I cannot tell based on the information you provide.
If not, there may be a more fundamental problem with the plug-in, which has never been tested on Mac OS to my knowledge. In that case you can try switching to the legacy back-end. And do you see any informative warnings in the debug window?
If all else fails, and if the problem is with the plug-in rather than your experiment, I would recommend switching to a Windows or Linux machine.
Cheers!

Hi Sebastian,
Thank you for your swift response.
Indeed, I can confirm that it is the plug-in that is the problem. I have already switched to the legacy back-end, but that did not help. I can easily play a single movie with the plugin however, and for that the legacy back-end needs to be chosen.
I have switched to a windows machine now, and the experiment runs smoothly with the exact same setup. Hopefully this will be fixed for the OX version.
Thank you for your help,
Best,
Marc
