[solved] sound quality
Hi Sebastian,
what is the best audio format/feature (khz, etc) for Opensesame. I have some sound files (.wav) mit good quality, but if i run my experiment, I hear some noises playing the sounds. Is there any trics to solve this problem?
best regards

Hi Sasan,
By default, OpenSesame plays back sound in 48Khz. I believe that's the highest quality that PyGame (which is used as a sound backend) can handle. So I guess I would stick to 48Khz.
Regarding the noise. It's probably a very a nasty crackling sound, right? That means that the sound buffer is too small. A small sound buffer keeps the latency down, but too small will lead to stuttering. You can increase the sound buffer by clicking on Show back-end settings and info in the General tab. There you will find a variety of options related to sound and video playback, etc.
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Sebastiaan

thx thx Sebastian,
i have increased the sound buffer size from 512 to 515 and easy peasy
Best regards Sasan
Good! Btw, 515 is rounded up to 1024, because only power-of-2 values are allowed: http://www.pygame.org/docs/ref/mixer.html#pygame.mixer.init
