[solved] File pool error
Hi Sebastiaan,
I recently started using open sesame and tried out the "OpenSesame Tutorial: Creating a Gaze Cuing Experiment."
Everything works out fine until "step 4: Add images and sound files to the file pool." Regardless of where I download the smiley faces, I can't get them into the file pool. Several of my collegues are having the same problem. I'm running the program on Windows 7 (Korean version), but some of them are having the same problem on Windows XP.
Thank you so much for your efforts!

Hi HIP,
Normally, you would either a) drag a file from the explorer (or finder/ nautilus/ dolphin, pick your file browser) into the file pool, or b) click on the '+' icon in the file pool and select a file using the dialog that appears.
But I'm assuming that you've already tried this, and it doesn't work for some reason. You mention that you're using the Korean Windows version. It could be that OpenSesame has a problem with the encoding of the file names, which I assume contain Korean characters? Is there a file called opensesame.exe.log in the OpenSesame program folder? If so, could you perhaps post it here, or upload it to something like pastebin? That would help me to identify the problem and fix it.
As a workaround, you could try the following (I'm not sure this will work, but it's worth a shot):
First copy the files to a location without any special (well, 'special' from an ASCII point of view) characters, such as *c:\tmp* and drag them into the file pool from there.
Open the file pool folder (which is a temporary folder somewhere) in explorer with the 'browse' button that you will see in the OpenSesame file pool and copy the files to the file pool folder manually.
Cheers,
Sebastiaan

Hi Sebastiaan,
Thank you for the quick reply and tip! The second workaround (copying the files to the pool folder in exlorer) works on my computer (the '+' icon and the drag & drop option do not).
Is this the file you are referring to Sebastiaan?
The thing is though, I receive the following message everytime I exit the program so I'm not sure if the log file above includes the information you need:
The logfile 'C:program files\OpenSesame\opensesame.exe.log' could not be opened:
[Errno 13] Permission denied: 'C\Program Files\OpenSesame\opensesame.exe.log
Anyway, I (and a number of my collegues) really appreciate everything you're doing. Thank you!
Thanks! It's strange that you get a permission error and still have the .exe.log file. Nevertheless, it appears that it's exactly the information I need. I filed a bug report on this and I'm sure the issue will be resolved for the next release: https://github.com/smathot/OpenSesame/issues/87
Please let me know about any other localisation issues you might run into!
