[solved] text-response collection on a sketchpad
Hi Sebastiaan and all,
First off, thanks Sebastiaan for developing OpenSesame
I am a newbie and I got stuck when programming my upcoming experiment, which I hope you could help me out!
The experiment requires participants to (1) view video clips, and (2) provide a text response in a text input field, and click a Yes/No button. (1) and (2), however, need to be done simultaneously. Is there perhaps a straightforward way of accomplishing this? I have played around with the Questionnaire plugin but it seems that text_input could not be embedded in a sketchpad. I guess it would be possible to edit the script of text_input to achieve what I want, but my next-to-none experience with scripts has gotten me nowhere.
Any tip and help from you would be appreciated! Thanks for your time in advance!

Hi Newbie,
Welcome to the forum!
Collecting text input and playing a video at the same time is possible, but not straight-forward. You may want to take a look at this discussion: http://forum.cogsci.nl/index.php?p=/discussion/137/open-simultaneous-image-video-and-sound-presentation/p1. There's an inline script in this discussion that shows how to play a video and show an image at the same time. What you would need to do is collect key presses, use these to maintain a text string (the response), and show the response on the screen with a text stimulus. Does that make sense?
I realize that it's not trivial to do this if you don't have much prior experience, but I hope this will get you started. If you get stuck, please post again.
Cheers,
Sebastiaan
