Creating a linked copy on Mac OS?

edited November 2015 in OpenSesame

Hi,

I decided to make an effort to learn the basics of OpenSesame and will have to put together a number of tasks in the next couple of months. Therefore, I wanted to start with the basics and work through a couple of tutorials and look at examples. I started with the step-by-step beginner tutorial but get stuck pretty early on. I am at this step: Append a new loop item, containing the previously created sequence, for the experimental phase. It says,

[...] However, because the trials of the practice and experimental phase are identical, they can use the same sequence. Therefore, instead of dragging a new sequence from the item toolbar, you can re-use the existing one (i.e. create a linked copy). To do this, drag the previously created sequence from the overview area onto _loop while holding the Ctrl key pressed. In the pop-up menu that appears, select ‘Set as item to run for _loop’.

But: holding the Ctrl key doesn't seem to work on Mac OS (Yosemite; OpenSesame 2.9.6). The sequence gets moved to Unused Items. I also tried using other keys (cmd, shift, and alt) but the result is always the same.

Therefore, my question is: how can I create a linked copy of an object on Mac?

Thank you for your time!

PS: I just finished the tutorial (without the practice loop so that I don't need a linked copy of the block_sequence). Thank you very much for putting together such an amazingly detailed tutorial!
