VCL media player problems únder Windows 8

edited January 2016 in OpenSesame

Hi,

I bought a new computer which (unfortunately) came with Windows 8. When I tried to open my OpenSesame experiment (that worked well on the old computer with Windows 7) I received an error message telling me "Failed to loadplugin media_player_vlc". However, I have installed the newest version of OpenSesame (3.0.5) including the vlc media player plugin on the new computer. I also installed the vlc media player itself (I tried different versions, currently the newest 2.2.1) in the default location (C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC). But it doesn't work. Please find below the Traceback:

File "dist\libopensesame\item_store.py", line 165, in new
  File "dist\libopensesame\plugins.py", line 357, in load_plugin
  File "dist\libopensesame\plugins.py", line 328, in import_plugin
  File "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenSesame\plugins\media_player_vlc\media_player_vlc.py", line 32, in <module>
ImportError: No module named vlc

Could someone help me with that? (I also tried Gstreamer instead of VLC but it seems as Gstreamer is not compatible with OpenSesame version 3?).

Many thanks in advance!
