All experiments do not run

Hi,

All of a sudden all experiments (including the built-in example experiments by default) have become unable to be run, all of them producing the following message:

Stopped
The experiment did not finish normally for the following reason:
- Unexpected error
Details
- item-stack: ``
- exception message: [Errno 2] No such file or directory
- time: Wed Mar 30 16:15:06 2016
- exception type: OSError
Traceback (also in debug window)
(blank)

Could some one tell me what is wrong?

I reinstalled open sesame but the problem still remains.

Hi,

I'm experiencing the same behavior, unfortunately. Neither the built-in experiments nor any other will run, with the very same error output as reported by OP.

I'm running OpenSesame 3.0.7 on Mac OSX 10.11.4.

Edit: For what it's worth, the problem persisted after I downgraded to OpenSesame 3.0.6.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Alright, I was lucky enough to get rid of the problem. I removed OpenSesame from my system using AppCleaner and reinstalled version 3.0.7. Now, all experiments seem to be running as intended.

I haven't seen this error before. @Yuij What operating system are you using? Also Mac OSX?

If completely uninstalling OpenSesame works, this command may also do the trick:

OpenSesame.app/Contents/MacOS/OpenSesame --start-clean

Execute it from a terminal in the folder in which the OpenSesame app is located (Usually /Applications, but it can be ~/Applications). This will erase all settings and configuration files that have been stored. It's sort of a 'factory reset' of OpenSesame.

Hi, sorry for being late to respond. I consulted a person who is familiar with this stuff, and he could identify that the following configuration file was the source of trouble.

/Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.cogscinl.opensesame.plist

Once I removed that file the experiment ran properly. Thank you for your help!

I also have the same problem on both of my Mac laptops.
I tried to do everything stated above, but it's not working for me.
Any more suggestions?

could you please give a little more specific information about your problem? Do you see exactly the same error message? It could be that you have a different problem than the one described above. Can you show us what is in your

/Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.cogscinl.opensesame.plist

file?

Did anyone having this problem ever find a solution?? I am having the same problem with my macbook. The experiments were all running fine, but now none of them will run. I tried reinstalling and the above suggestions, but nothing is working. Thx

Hi guys,

Sadly I can't reproduce the problem, and the screenshot and file dump posted here gives me nothing to go on (please also use code formatting, see the 'using Markdown extra syntax' in the Tips). Please try to be more elaborate in describing the problem and the error messages you see so I at least I know where to start looking to pinpoint this problem. Even though it is already mentioned above, it might still be worth starting Opensesame with

/Applications/OpenSesame.app/Contents/MacOS/OpenSesame --start-clean

from a terminal to see if a full reset solves anything.
