[Help] Opensesame won't load
Hi, so I am encountering major problems with OpenSesame 3.1.9 on Windows 10 64-bit.
I tried the 32- and 64-bit versions and am encountering the same problem.
Basically, it just won't open. I tried it opening it in python directly, which tells my I don't have the permission to do so. I also installed it on different partitions, but still couldn't open it.
Ironically I had been using opensesame on my macbook up until now, which work just fine eventhough lots of people seem to have problems on it.
Does anyone have an idea? I really hate working on the macbook and just want to use it on my home pc.
My system:
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (1703) OS Build: 15063.632
Intel Xeon E3 1230 v3
16 Gb Ram
Thank you in advance!

Hi Jeez,
What happens exactly? Say you have downloaded the no-installation-required version based on Python 2.7. Then you extract the
zipfile, and double-click onopensesame.exe. And then what happens?Cheers,

Hi sebastiaan,
thanks for replying.
Quite simply put nothing happens at all. I click it and get the loading cursor, than after about 5 seconds it's gone and nothing happens.
If I look in the task manager, I can't find any open processes, so somehow it seems that it just can't open the program.
I tried older versions as well as the installer and .zip versions. I also tried running as adminstrator and running in compatibility modes for older windows versions.
I am honestly at my wits end right now
Hi,
There are many reasons why OpenSesame might crash, so let's try to get some more info by launching OpenSesame with the command prompt.
You can start the command prompt by launching
cmd.exethrough the start menu. You then navigate to the OpenSesame program folder. And then launch OpenSesame by executing:Say that your username is
devand you've extracted OpenSesame in theDownloadsfolder, then this might look as follows:Once you've done that, you should probably see an error message of some kind. Please post that here.
Cheers!

Hey Sebastiaan,
I have no idea why it would make a difference, but if I open it via the cmd console, IT WORKS!!
It might be a minor inconvenience, but I honestly don't mind as long as I can use it. If you want me to try anything else that might help you with future releases, please let me know and I'll be happy to do so.
Thank you so much, you are awesome and so is your program - I know 10€ isn't much, but I am a poor phd-student
Cheers,
Joe
If this works, then you could create a file
opensesame.batin the OpenSesame program folder, with the following text in it:Then you can launch OpenSesame by double-clicking on the batch file, which is a simple executable script. Saves you from having to start the command prompt every time.
Every little contribution is appreciated, thank you!
