Python crashes
Hi, we are running open sesame 3.1.6 (we have an number of experiments running in this version currently) and have just installed this onto a new Windows 10 computer.
When we run one of our experiments we have a windows message pop up stating that python.exe has stopped working. If you click close, the experiment crashes leaving this error message:
Python seems to have crashed. This should not happen. If Python crashes often, please report it on the OpenSesame forum.
The weird thing is that if we ignore the dialogue box and click back to the experiment it will continue to run okay (until the next dialogue box appears). But obviously this is not ideal to be having error boxes pop up at all.
Having browsed the forum I checked to see if there is a memory issue whilst running the experiment as we are using a lot of videos but there seems to be no problem (memory use is stable around 2-2.5gb / 8gb).
Some points:
1. The experiment is working fine on other computers running 3.1.6 (these are all windows 7 machines, unfortunately we need it to work on this machine)
2. The 'python has stopped working' seems to occur at random points rather than at the same point each time
3. We tried 3.1.9 and got the same problem (and we are keen to stay with 3.1 until this round of experiments finish)
Comments
Hi,
Hmm, it's quite strange that you get this error message—which is generally fatal—while the experiment keeps running. Does this also happen for experiments without any videos in them?
Cheers,
Sebastiaan
