Save participant emai address as a variable

Hello,

I need help with recording my participant's email address in an online experiment

Is there was a way for me to be able to save the participants email address as a variable ? Also, they will need to be able to see what they are typing on the sketch[pad and erase mistakes

I tried changing an already existing inline java script that was designed to record participant's student ID (only numbers) but it didn't work... (details in a forum discussion under OpenSesame category titled 'recording participant's email'). I was wondering if it was possible to create a variable that can includes both strings and numbers?or perhaps there is an easier way to record participant's email address?
