Psycho backend display coordinates

Hi all,

I am presenting my experiment in OpenSesame using the psycho backend with a display resolution of 1920x1080. On the sketchpads that I use for presenting the stimuli, the coordinates range from -960 to 960 (left to right) on the horizontal axis and from -545 to 545 (top to bottom) on the vertical axis. This means that the values on the vertical axis are negative (-) for the top half of the display.

However, when plotting my mouse positions made on the display (using the mouse.get_click() function), I noticed that the values on the vertical axis are positive for the top half of the display. This discrepancy is causing confusion for me. The data seems to be shown based on the sketchpad coordinates, but the values on the y-axis do not align with the coordinate system I expected. The positions on the top half of the display have their y-values as positive, while the bottom half has negative values, resulting in a reversed pattern.

I would appreciate it if you could provide me with some information regarding this discrepancy.

Best regards,

PariShad

  • Hi Pari,

Could you share your experiment? I don't know what the situation should be like. But I can try a few things to figure out the coordinate system for the separate situations.
