[solved] Problem with mouse response
Hello!
Thanks to some help from the Forum, we managed to get our reaction time study working with OpenSesame!
But now we've encountered a weird Problem with the mouse Response:
In our Experiment, the participant listens to an Audio file while a black Screen with a Fixation dot is presented. When this is done, two Pictures appear and they should decide for one (left mose click = left Picture, right mouse click = right Picture).
So far, so good. However: When the participant presses the mouse button several times too early, namely during the fixation dot, the program kind of crashes (you can see the Windows mouse arrow and the loading sign) and it does not advance to the Pictures Screen afterwards but only shows a blank Screen instead. And here is the weird part: This only happens if you press the mouse button that is associated with the "confirm" button in Windows (by Default the left button, but if you chane this in Windows to use the right mouse button for confirmation, it also only happens for this button during the Experiment). You can hammer on the other button as much as you like, the Experiment is not affected by it and advances normally.
We have activated the Option to flush early Responses, but that doesn't seem to be the issue here anyway, since only one button is affected.
Is there a way to fix this or a work-around? Otherwise we'd have to Switch to keyboard Responses, as those work fine.
Thanks a bunch!

Hi,
That's a very strange problem. One thing that comes to mind is that there is some kind of software installed on the PC that intercepts mouse clicks/ gestures. Could that be it? If you run the same experiment on another PC, do you see the issue as well?
Cheers,
Sebastiaan

Hey!
Thanks for the Suggestion. After having tried it on several other machines, the issue kinda fixed itself:
I have no idea what exactly changed, but we noticed that this issue only occured on the Laptop with OpenSesame version 2.8.0 (that Laptop isn't always connected to the Internet, so I guess we got kinda lazy updating it). It seems to have been fixed in 2.8.1.
So... awesome! Neither the mouse nor the mouse loading animation are visible anymore in 2.8.1.
Again, thanks a bunch!
