Develop a new task to use with MultiBall (an interactive wall)
Hello,
I am a researcher in Human Movement Psychology. Our lab recently bought an interactive wall from MultiBall. MultiBall is basically a frame with sensors that can detect objects larger than 2.5 cm at speeds up to 250 km/h using 40 ms detection technology.
Image is displayed using a projector, controlled using an online platform, and the wall is basically a large sensor.
Now, I want to create a football penalty kicking task and I want to use MultiBall so that it can automatically detect where the ball landed on the x- and y-coordinates or relative to the goalkeeper standing in the middle for each trial.
We were advised to use Unity to create games but I was wondering if anyone has used OpenSesame to create games and link it to MultiBall. Or if anyone is interested in helping try. The company send us an SDK to use with Unity.
Looking for advise or anyone to collaborate!
Kind regards,

Hi @SoSo ,
There is some overlap between the type of experiments/ games that you can create with Unity and OpenSesame, but the focus of the applications is different.
Unity is focused on professional games, either 2D or 3D, and provides elaborate ways to animate and control the game world and characters inside. It's a really great tool, but also complex, and it does not offer any standard way to implement trial-based experiments.
On the other hand, OpenSesame is simpler and focused on experiments, but is more limited when it comes to animating a game world. OpenSesame is also based on Python, which means that MultiBall would need to include a Python SDK (or a network protocol to interact with the device) in addition to a Unity SDK. I'm not sure whether they do, but the company will know that.
Or if anyone is interested in helping try. The company send us an SDK to use with Unity. Looking for advise or anyone to collaborate!
The forum is a great place to ask for suggestions when you're trying to implement something yourself. But if you're looking for hands-on support to guide you through this, either using Unity or OpenSesame, then the forum is not the right place, and I would recommend getting professional support instead. You can either get that from us or a number of other individuals or companies who offer such services.
