[solved] Toolbar stretches off the side of the screen (Mac version)

edited April 2015 in OpenSesame

I've run into a silly user interface problem. When I undocked the toolbar, both sides stretched off the edges of the screen, and I believe that is where the handle to it (and close button) are located. So it's in the way and I can't move it out of the way. I'm on a new MacBook pro, using the latest release of OpenSesame for the Mac. Here is a screenshot (showing the whole width of the screen):

Things I've tried: increasing the screen resolution, making the icons on the toolbar smaller. This appears to be a little UI bug, but I think I can easily resolve my situation if I can reset the OpenSesame config settings. Where might I find that file so I can delete it?

Thanks,

Daniel

    Hi Daniel,

Good to see you on the forum!

Yes, that's a nasty little problem. In the upcoming version of OpenSesame, you'll be able to clear all settings with a command-line argument. But for now you have to remove the files manually. I don't have a Mac myself to test the process, but this page describes where settings are stored for various operating systems:

Thanks for this answer by the way! Daniel helped me with this in person (I'm lucky!) and I think what he did was to change the Interface style (in Preferences, in the Appearance block) to "CDE", and then restart. At least I think that was the important step - we also did a step of launching the program from the command line, with OpenSesame.app/Contents/MacOS/OpenSesame --start-clean and briefly used the cleanlooks appearance (but this had some problem with it that make every user interface action take a second to complete) Perhaps he can clarify what was the important part. In any case it works nicely now, docked into the top of the screen.

I am on Yosemite, MacBook Pro. I'm having the same issue, but I lack the technical skill to solve it. Anyone mind telling me how I can get the item toolbar back into the side bar and not locked to the edges of my screen?
