# Extension OpenScienceFramework misbehaved on event open_experiment (see debug window for stack trace

HI,
I can't perform my experiment because It's blocked by this message :
"Extension OpenScienceFramework misbehaved on event open_experiment (see debug window for stack trace)"

I am working with new version Opensesame 3.1.9 and it's the same mistaken message with opensesame 3.1.6
Someone have an idea ?

• When i ignore the message and tempt to perform the experiment :
item-stack: Experience[prepare].son_correct[prepare]
exception type: error
exception message: Couldn't open c:\users\agns\appdata\local\temp\expyriment_tmp\tmpazydpt.tga
time: Sat Jan 13 14:20:39 2018

• Hi Agnès,

These seem to be two separate issues, although perhaps with the same underlying cause. Could you post the full stacktrace of both error messages? You can find this in the debug window (Ctrl+D).

Cheers!
Sebastiaan

• Oopensesame performs
extended_template-py3
but not others or few

• Use the "print([msg])" function in inline_script items to print to this debug window.
• Inspect inline_script variables when an experiment is finished.

Thanks a lot
I have desinstall opensesame 3.1.9 but it's the same problem .

• Hi,
I would like to notify you that i have the same problem wtih my others computers.
I don't understand !

• Thanks for posting the stacktrace for the first error message. But could you post the full stacktrace for the second error ("Couldn't open") message as well? And could you attach the experiment file to this discussion? Right now I don't have enough information to be able to tell what's wrong.

• Hi Agnès,

It runs fine for me (though quite slowly), and it's not clear to me where this error comes from. It looks like some kind of file permission issue. @fladd does this look familiar to you?

Does the experiment run if you select the legacy backend? That will also make things run more smoothly, probably.

Cheers!
Sebastiaan

• Hi Agnes, hi Sebastiaan,

the error does not look familiar, but it indeed indicates an issue with file permissions.

@AgnèsG, could you please run the following Python script on your computer and paste the output for me:

(@sebastiaan, the forum does not allow .py files to be attached for some reason.)

Best,
Florian

• @AgnèsG Do you have an accent in your username? If so, then this could also be a character-encoding issue. Because I see a missing 'e' in the 'agnes': Couldn't open c:\users\agns\appdata\local\temp\expyriment_tmp\tmp5mtxf0.tga

• Ah, then it might again be Pygame expecting a UTF-8 encoded string, while the string is Windows file system encoded...Will check.

• No, works fine on Win10 with the current Pygame...

• Hi,
I come back from my classes.
I look for your advices and I wish I can do everything.
I would like to come back to you if I can't success
Thanks ... and I go to try !!!

• Hi,
for the accent, it's not the problem because on my other computer the name is francoise
an Fladd : where do you want i copy on my computer ?
Thanks

• If the problem comes from the Pygame, what can I do ?

• @AgnèsG, please just run the Python script I sent you earlier, and let me know what the output is.

Thanks

• Hi,
I can now experiment. I have made an other account administrator and I work with it.
But there is now a window at left with a link to opensesame site and I can't dismiss it.
Could you tell me how I have to do ?
Thanks a lot

• Hi @AgnèsG,

Assuming that this issue is again related to the OSF extension, you should solve it by disabling the OpenScienceFramework under Tools → Plug-in and extension manager.

Could you also run the script that @fladd made for you? That will help us to debug your issue.

Cheers,
Sebastiaan
